Metal Injection Molding (MIM)

Metal Injection Molding is one of the most advanced metal forming techniques in the world and can provide huge financial benefits over traditional manufacturing methods.  This technology is a combination of plastic injection molding and powdered metals where the part is initially molded in an injection molding machine, and through a series of ensuing processes, the binders are removed and the powdered metals sinter.  The part densifies, shrinking isotropically resulting in a solid metal part.

MIM is a great technology when the product has the following requirements;

  • Relatively small (<150 grams is ideal)
  • Complex geometry
  • Unique material requirements
  • Tight tolerances (a good benchmark is +/- .5% of nominal)

Custom Sintering Trays

Our in-house custom manufacturing process allows us to specially design and manufacture custom ceramic sintering furniture.  This means complex part geometry can be supported during sintering mitigating distortion.  Our sintering furniture can be designed and manufactured in a matter of days so even rapid prototype jobs can have custom furniture.

Plastic Injection Molding

Plastic injection molding has been well established as a precision manufacturing process capable of generating highly complex shapes in large volumes with highly engineered resins or commodity plastics.

We have custom prototype molding machines specially designed for single cavity prototype molding.  We also have a 10,000 sqft. injection molding floor for production plastic injection molding that houses 7 presses ranging from 35 to 250 tons with automation equipment, dryers, and high end inspection equipment for the most rigorous quality requirements.

Additive Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a rapidly evolving technology with many different printing methods, each of which presents its own set of advantages as well as challenges. Our group has been working with 3D printing for years and stays on the forefront of the technology as it evolves.  Our group can help you chose the right printing method and approach to fit your needs and accomplish your goals.  We house a variety of printers in house and partner with local service bureaus with a wide range of technologies.
